I was never a gambling buff. In fact, gambling was a sort of despicable thing to me. Listening to music, watching movies, nattering with friends, surfing the net and indulging in outdoor games were all I could think of as recreational activities. Some of my friends were full of praise for blackjack and they used to share with me their thrilling experiences about the game. To tell the truth, I felt curious and began to browse the websites with a view to gather information about it. There were so many sites and I had to restrain the browsing activity to the front page only. I was just glancing through the titles only while one of them arrested my attention. I clicked the site. It was about establishing a relation between the mathematical brilliance and winning blackjack. I went through it and got some valuable information. I came to know from my friends that it is the most popular game in the gambling world but now I understood that blackjack is quite at variance with the other roulettes. A lucky chap may stride into the casino with bloating pride but he cannot be victorious on strength of his luck only, if he lacks the grey factor, the key to dominate the game.
I decided to drop at a nearby casino to have a feel of blackjack fever. The sight of well-dressed men and women getting down from the luxurious cars and stepping into the casinos with air of sophistication was really a sight to remember for ever. But I could not guess what more was in store for me. I, being slovenly dressed, felt like an intruder in the lavishly aristocratic environment of the casino. The room was a sprawling one and dimly lit casting a mysterious spell all around. The blackjack players were divided into several groups and assembled around several tables. Above each of the tables a powerful light was hanging from the ceiling for the sake of clear sight of the numbers of the cards.
The mercury of the thrill was shooting upwards once the game is in full swing. Blackjack strategies were too much complicated for me to chew on. I watched intently the facial expressions of the players to guess if they stood good chances of winning or losing. I felt underestimated being a blackjack illiterate; I could not dig deep into the enjoyment factor. I was all wrong at every turn. I could not help being moved by the rousing celebration of the winners and the distressing look shadowing the faces of the losers. Some were able to keep up their stoical appearances even after losing the game of blackjack. Added to all these, the epicurean delights and lures of cocktails. I was one among the enthusiasts who enjoyed blackjack without getting involved in the game itself. It is a treasure to lock into the trove.
